In the cup

Fruity, sweet and silky.

Open the bag and the fruit hits first. In the cup, red berries lead into caramel and a bright touch of lime, then hazelnut and a sweetness that lingers long after the last sip.

Why specialty coffee

Not all coffee is the same coffee.

Specialty coffee is graded by trained tasters and has to score 80 points or more out of 100 to earn the name. Here is what that means for what ends up in your cup.

Specialty · George Coffee

You know exactly what you’re drinking.

OriginTraceable to a region, often to a single farm and lot. Ours comes from Villa Rica, Peru.
Beans100% Arabica, selectively picked and sorted to remove defects.
RoastRoasted in small batches to reveal each coffee’s own flavour, not to cover it up.
FreshnessEvery bag is stamped with its roast date, so you always know how fresh it is.
FlavourFruit, caramel, florals and sweetness: real tasting notes, no syrups needed.
Typical supermarket coffee

Made for the shelf, not for the cup.

OriginUsually a blend from several countries, with little or no information about where it was grown.
BeansOften mixed with lower-grade Robusta and harvested in bulk, defects included.
RoastCommonly roasted very dark to keep the taste uniform and hide flaws.
FreshnessUsually labelled with a best-before date, not a roast date, and can sit on the shelf for months.
FlavourMostly bitter and roasty, which is why it so often needs milk and sugar.
The coffee of the month

A new coffee every month, straight from origin.

We import it ourselves

It’s the same green coffee we bring in from Peru through MST Coffee Importers and supply to specialty roasters across Canada.

We roast it in our lab

In Vancouver we evaluate every lot and roast it in small batches, so you taste it exactly the way we do.

It changes every month

Each release is limited and rotates with the coffees we have in stock. When one runs out, the next one arrives.

You pick what’s next

Taste it. Rate it. Share it.

Every order comes with a tasting card. Score the coffee, mark the flavours you found and tell us if you’d like it lighter or darker. Post your card and tag @georgecoffeeroasters: your votes help us choose, and roast, the coffees that come next.
